Hybrid Academy of Behavioral Science is a behavioral risk mitigation research and training firm. We implement science-based training concepts designed to prevent suicide, eliminate workplace violence, and improve the mental health and resilience of law enforcement officers, first responders, and criminal justice professionals.
Our Suicide Prevention and Mental Resilience training course is approved for law enforcement credits by the Georgia Peace Officer Standard and Training Council and the Pennsylvania State Police Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC).
Our research focuses on neuropsychological science that explains behavior and decision-making processes in high-stress environments. We investigate concepts of fear, anxiety, PTSD, depression, suicide, and psychological resilience.
We are driven by the notion that in order to conquer the difficulties of the profession, an officer must possess three characteristics: self awareness, self-trust, and self-control. We believe that working in the law enforcement profession requires not only strength and intelligence, but also an extraordinary mindset that should balance self-awareness, objectivity, pragmatism, compassion, and emotional stability. Therefore, the first step in helping officers sustain mental health is to provide them with the necessary cognitive skills that will allow them to control emotional responses, adapt to any situation, make rational decisions under stress, and promptly recover from traumatic events.
Our transdisciplinary team consists of: mental health professionals, research project specialists, police officers, behavioral scientists, and family members of police officers and first responders.
